This assignment of the cover letter is in conjunction with the revised essay you are doing for me (order # 5913569678). I requested you so you can work on both parts together.
Cover Letter for Essay Revision Assignment – In conjunction with the submission of your revised essay, you will draft a cover letter and revision of one of your earlier essays submitted in this class. Submitted at the same time as your revision, your cover letter, as a formal business letter (similar to a cover letter for an employment application) discusses and describe the changes necessary, how you made such revisions, etc. This cover letter is submitted with the revised essay and are combined and weighed as two separate, but related, assignments. Your essay, as with the earlier version submitted, will be in APA format.
The link to the file below is an example in Word format for your use in this assignment. Please remember to change the name of the document before you submit. I suggest using a name practice similar to how would do so for an employment application: (lastname, firstname – “Cover Letter”) Smith, John – Cover Letter (or something similar). Clarity in file names is helpful when the hiring manager is trying to find your eloquently written and perfectly formatted cover letter among the dozens of other letters received through the HR system of your target employer.
The body text of your letter, provided here, explains the details and concepts of the letter:
This first text paragraph, with an indented first line of greeting / introduction / subject matter / etc., is the opening of your letter and is both short and is little more than a written handshake of greeting. In this case, it briefly introduces your performance on an essay and desire to improve but does not get into depth on the topic. This is a formal letter that you address to me [see above] and “date” your letter (change the date as necessary).
Your second paragraph for this assignment is a more substantive discussion / analysis / summary. Here, you state that you previously submitted this essay (include details of the original assignment and topic of your essay), that you are unhappy with your grade and/or performance (or similar comments). Your new submission is intended to remedy issues and improve your performance and/or grade, etc.
The third paragraph is your greater discussion of the issues with your paper, discuss any comments or point losses and what that information means to you. Also, discuss in this paragraph, or another as you deem most reflective of your actions and personal style, the changes made, justifications for the changes, what thoughts you have on the necessity of changes, in the manner you deem appropriate.
In the closing paragraph, the writer commonly ends the analysis / communication / subject matter discussion, includes contact information as necessary (ex: email address, phone, number), and opens the door to further communication, action, or a result sought. This assignment is modeled on a business letter and should be written in a style and using grammar that reflects professional communications and favorably upon you. After the closing paragraph is your “signature block.” Much as you see in email communications from your professors, there is a block of information at the end of each email message with a name, title, organization, contact information, and more. You should close your letter with some similar term (ex: sincerely, in appreciation, yours, etc.) and sign it. To use this template, you must delete the words “your signature” and their matching parentheses, sign this on the line provided, and submit as a PDF at the same time as your essay revision in Canvas.
