Title is ‘the impact of PiXL Times Table app’ on teaching and learning at Key Stage 2 (UK).

Altogether I am creating a website with the above title. One of the pages on the website is game-based learning which will discuss game-based learning in relation to the PiXL Times Table app. As it is an education paper, there must be learning theories intertwined throughout each paragraph.

Below is a structure for each paragraph, explaining what must be included in each paragraph:

Paragraph 1:
Summarise what PiXL Times Table app is designed to do. Find a definition of game-based learning and explain why this is an effective way of teaching. Use Piaget and Vygotsky to discuss why play is important for cognitive development. Find researchers who support Piaget and Vygotsky’s viewpoint. Explain and link play/game-based learning to the rise in technology and how schools are able to use technology, and game-based learning, to enhance teaching and learning opportunities.

Paragraph 2:
To ensure cohesion, have one sentence explaining the link between gamification and technology (include a researcher/reference). Find a reference to define gamification and explain how this is different to game-based learning. Explain the similarities and differences in gamification and game-based learning.
Whilst explaining the similarities and differences, ensure to relate to Pixl Times Table app, explaining how this app is gamification – do they get coins, earn rewards, competitions etc? Relate this to behaviourism theory and in detail, explain how it links. How does this theory relate to the app and to children who are using this app?

Paragraph 3:
This paragraph will consist of numerous researchers who agree and/or disagree that gamification has a positive impact on learning. So there will be numerous researcher who agree that gamification has a positive impact on learning and explain why. Also, have numerous researcher who counteract this argument and do not agree. Both arguments needed to be combined into one paragraph using language of comparison.

Paragraph 4: Conclusion
Summarise and emphasise key points – include learning theory and development of children, relating to technology evolving everyday.
