Sources: You must use at least 4 academic sources. Your sources reflect your credibility as a writer, so your main sources should be from well-respected publications. (Check with your instructor if you have questions about any of the sources you want to use.) You should control these sources, using them to back up your point of view and discussion of the topic. Make sure you are not just “stringing sources together”; you should be in control of your sources, rather than letting your sources control you! Your sources should be integrated well and should flow with the writing through the use of attributive tags. Wikipedia, Answers.com, About.com, and other general online encyclopedias do not count as academic sources.
Documentation: Use the MLA system of documentation. You are responsible for properly citing sources within your text and on your Works Cited page. Both of your textbooks include examples and guidelines on how to properly cite your sources.
