This city memo asks you to consider the future of your city. This memo may be less focused on readings, but instead your interpretation of current programs and/or policies being implemented in your city.
Potential items to consider are:
•What industries in your city are growing and shrinking?
What implications does this have on the future of the city?
•Is the city and/or region gaining or losing populations? What does this mean for the future?
•How could programs and policies currently being used affect the city’s future?
Instead of using the memo to merely point out what may happen in the future, instead think about what implications this may have on the people and the place.
As always, memos should be two pages in length, using Calibri, 12-point font, one-inch margins, and double spaced. Students should use the American Psychological Association (APA) format for citations and reference pages. While web sources are acceptable, please note that Wikipedia is not a valid reference.
The city is Oakland, California. Emphasis should be placed on the housing market prices continue to rise and cause gentrification and only rich people can afford to live there like in its neighbor San Francisco.
