Assignment:
Identify an exhibit (article or object of analysis) that reflects, engages with, or complicates a research problem you are encouraged to select a current controversy as your exhibit. Write an academic research essay of 2000-2500 words in which you make a claim about your exhibit, supporting your argument with evidence from at least 5 sources (at least 3 of which must be scholarly sources from peer-reviewed academic journals). One of these sources can be Crenshaw’s text, however, that is not required.
Writing Goals:
As in the first two assignments, your research essay should:
Feature an introduction that presents your exhibit and problem to the reader.
Follow a logical and persuasive structure that builds on itself and advances your argument.
Attend to key moments of transition between paragraphs and sections.
Visibly attempt to maintain a clear and fluent Fairly and judiciously integrate evidence from a variety of sources. Introduce, cite and explain quotations used as evidence, and define and/or contextualize key terms and ideas as needed.
Establish an easily identifiable motive(why you chose the topic) for both reading and writing your essay, that addresses the larger significance of your argument.
In addition, your P3 essay should:
Use strong, scholarly sources in multiple ways (background, argument, exhibit, method).Consider and address possible counterarguments to your claims, as well as acknowledge and respond to reader concerns.
Articulate your claims’ underlying warrants (or assumptions) when necessary.
Note:final drafts must include citations and a Works Cited page in MLA style. Include a title, page numbers, and essay word count.
Craft an argument about a contemporary controversial topic with scholarly implications and of interest to an international academic community. This controversial topic will revolve around the Israeli-Palestinians conflict (you ll be taking a pro-stand for Palestine ) using sources that you find yourself.
