Your portfolio entries will examine media items that relate to Indigenous Australian people(s). Using the course materials you will analyse and explain the context and/or implications of your chosen media items. Each portfolio piece must refer to at least one source or reading from the course.
Each entry should demonstrate that you have used course material to better understand something encountered outside of the course.
Task Objectives (Linked to Learning Outcomes 1, 4 & 5):
This task is designed help you develop your skill at applying the knowledge gained in Indigenous Studies to a range of contexts outside the classroom. It builds on the skills practiced in the Article Review and Short Paper assessments.
Examples may be drawn from a wide range of media forms including:
• News stories or commentary about Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander issues
• Examples of Indigenous Australian popular culture such as comedy skits, music videos, feature
films, etc.
• Memes or debates on social media
• Public statements from politicians or Indigenous Australian political figures
• Publicly displayed artworks by Indigenous Australian artists
