Just a rough draft! for my essay! one page is enough : ) only worth 10 points but please do make a short draft that is connected to the topic basicall : )
(Rough draft instructions) Review the samples of thesis statements posted in this week’s module. Note how each thesis both refers to an idea or argument from another source (either a specific author or a general issue) and each thesis makes a claim that builds off that reference. This formula for a thesis is often called a “They say / I say” construction because the thesis begins with some piece of a larger debate or conversation (something that “they say”) and then the thesis presents what the author wants to add to that conversation (something “I say” as the writer).
For this assignment, please submit a rough draft of your thesis for Essay #2. Your thesis should address what issue or debate you are responding to and what your argument is: what conversation is prompting you to write and what are you going to add to the conversation?
Full essay Instructions (Not to be done now just instructions for guidance just in case )
Overview:
We have read a series of texts that address how new forms of information technology and
social media disrupt how our population consumes news about politics and the world in
general. Some of the texts see these new media forms as promoting greater engagement
and being beneficial, while some of the texts have highlighted problems such media
create.
Task:
For this essay, your task will be to present an argument in response to the conversation
we have encountered about this topic. You may agree with an argument another author
presents and then expand on their ideas, disagree with an argument and explain why, or
raise a point of view that you think is missing from the discussion entirely. In any case,
you should narrow the scope of your essay to a limited issue within the topic and focus
on building an argument about that issue.
Process:
In order to prepare you to write this essay you will need to go through many of the
following steps:
identify an issue from the texts which you want to respond to or develop,
read and reread essays in order to understand how other writers have addressed the
issue in your question,
find and evaluate additional sources and text which address the particular issue or
question you are interested in,
formulate a thesis that presents an original argument of your own, one that offers some
new insight into the issue you’ve identified
gather and outline supporting evidence that can prove your argument,
consider opposing points of view,
draft an essay,
review and revise your own and other writers’ work
